Samsung 470 128GB

Storage

Conclusion

While the Samsung 470 128GB might not have the best random access times we’ve seen in other reviews, it has some solid performance across the board and its price per GB is actually pretty good. TRIM support is excellent suggesting that this drive’s performance won’t degrade too badly over time; though of course there’s no way to gaurantee this without much longer term testing.

The only real problem of note with this SSD is that it’s a little outdated. SATA III drives are rolling in now with some much higher performance numbers. Keep an eye on the price of drives like this, as they could soon become very affordable.

Pros

Good overall performance
Impressive write speed
Good Trim support
Acceptable price point

Cons

Random access time isn’t the greatest, but far from the worst
Only SATA II
