Today we continue our capsule review series with a quick test of the QacQoc USB-C to HDMI adapter. We’ve put it through its paces, and here’s what we’ve learned about this essential £15 adapter.
Manufacturer’s specs & features
- USB-C 3.1 SuperSpeed input (up to 10Gb/s)
- HDMI output up to 4K / 60Hz
- Ultra-portable (45 x 23 x 10mm, 18.1 grams)
- Sleek aluminium finish that matches MacBook
Design
As described, this USB-C to HDMI adapter has an aluminium finish that provides a sense of durability and style. The adapter is quite small, making it easily man-portable even for those with weaker strength scores.
It’s available in multiple colours, but we have the simple silver version. Other options are space grey, rose gold and gold, matching the colours of many Apple products.
Testing
We used this USB-C to HDMI adapter with two devices: a Galaxy Note 8 smartphone and an XPS 15 9560 laptop. In both instances, our device instantly showed the 4K screen we connected, allowing us to see our content in ultra high definition. The adapter supports 60Hz / 60fps content, ensuring excellent responsiveness compared to 30Hz / 30fps alternatives. We didn’t notice the adapter getting hot or encountering any other issues in our testing.
Wrapping up
This USB-C to HDMI adapter does its job well, connecting 4K screens to basically any device with a USB-C port, including smartphones, tablets and computers. It also matches Apple devices and other high-end objects with an aluminium finish.
