Sapphire Pure 950W
The unit has the same high calibre finish as the external packaging with a very shiny, brushed finish that looks really attractive and is a little different from the matte black units that the market has become accustomed to.
A gold grill and eleven-bladed 140mm fan with a central Sapphire logo certainly adds to the visuals making the unit very sparkly and eye-catching.
The sides and base are left untampered simply sporting the shiny silver finish and keeping in style with the “Pure” naming as the unit is not burdened with unnecessary gimmicky extras.
The power switch and socket are located at the rear next to a large honeycomb grill allowing airflow into the internal components. A small LED, fancily named the PowerGuard indicator, is also situated at the back lighting up green, orange or red; the latter signifying an abnormality or problem.
Turning the unit around, a large sticker displays the output table along with a whole row or different logos. In terms of power, the Pure 950W PSU has a total of six +12V rails each with a max current of 30A. The +3.3v and +5V run at a lower 25A with the total wattage coming to 950W.
The UL number reads E324129 but after a little research we found that it simply lead back to Sapphire Technology Ltd. and so wasn’t particularly useful in finding more about the origin of the internal parts.
The majority of the cables are modular and so a number of ports are placed at the front: six 5×1 connections and four 5×2 for the PCI-Express cables which obviously require more power.
A small honeycomb grill is again utilised at the front to encourage more airflow into the internal compartment so as to aid the removal of heat.
If you’re wondering who made it, look no further than ENERMAX. They were specifically assigned the task of making PSUs for Sapphire. That’s why it’s a great unit, the rails are rock solid and the performance is good ..
