As you might expect there aren’t any synthetic benchmarks for mousepads (yet!), so I’ll have to do this one based on my general impressions. I used the mousepad for work and play for about two weeks, including five days at a LAN in southwest England. Over this period I played a decent range of games, including:
- StarCraft II
- DotA II
- CounterStrike: Source
- Pirates, Vikings, Knights II
- Ghost Recon Online
- Call of Duty 4
- Team Fortress 2
Let’s get into the results.
As you may have guessed, this is quite a good gaming mousepad. You’ve got a generous amount of space to account for a wide range of DPI settings and the ‘Cross Weave Technology’ surface provides a successful combination of speed and accuracy. There aren’t any particularly crazy features here, but that really isn’t a place where mousepads tend to go anyway.
This mousepad is quite comfortable to use, with the 3 mm of depth providing a good amount of padding. The large size also works in the mousepad’s favour, although in more crowded environments you may find yourself forced into keeping your keyboard and mouse in a top-to-bottom configuration rather than the favoured left-to-right, and this is generally less comfortable. In an ideal environment though, I can’t fault this mousepad on the comfort front.
With any product that provides very similar features and benefits to its competitors, looks and style are a critical way to differentiate yourself from the crowd. This is the true advantage of the White Ra mousepad in my eyes. It has a visually interesting design, with a fetching but limited palette, paired with a brand that any StarCraft fan would be happy to show their support for. There are few mousepads as good looking as this one, although your preferences may vary.
The White Ra Special Tactics mousepad banks heavily upon the personality of White Ra and the Tt eSPORTS aesthetic in order to differentiate itself; something that it does successfully. It doesn’t waste the opportunity either, providing a mouse pad that is well designed but not particularly unique in a functional way. Overall, it’s a fetching mousepad that’s a great choice for any fan of the well mannered Ukranian player but won’t really appeal outside of that niche.
Comfortable and supportive
Good blend of style and suave
Perhaps a bit big for some
White Ra fandom isn’t for everyone
Unique styling that won’t appeal to all
