Nova Slider X600
The Slider X600 is an odd looking mouse. Instead of being elongated on it’s left side, where most mice are, it’s instead extended on the right hand side, giving a support platform for your ring, and little finger.
The back and sides are coated in soft rubber, with a glossy black plastic top and buttons.
The finger support area is a nice feature as this is often overlooked by mouse manufacturers.
The left hand side has several buttons on it, two at the front which handle DPI switching, and 2 further back that are re-programmable, but are standard mapped to forward and back in your web browser.
The front mounted buttons are glossy black like the top, there’s a small Nova gaming logo and a central button in silver which changes the current profile settings, of which you have 3 to choose from. The translucent area around the black centre wheel is where the LEDs project through.
The wheel is black rubber, and is tilted slightly to the right. While it feels like moving it to the left clicks a 2nd button, it’s has a simple press down function only.
An interesting feature of the Nova X600 is that the cable for it, exits from the right hand side of the mouse, as apposed to the front. The reasoning behind this, is that Nova felt that it was often the case that the cable could cause drag in it’s front-mounted position. On the side, they theorised this would be reduced.
The cable for the Nova is covered in braid as apposed to plastic.
Flipping the mouse over you can see that the underside is a little different from most mice.
It has X shaped styling, centering on the laser sensor.
Interestingly, as apposed to using teflon mouse feet like most manufacturers, Nova went with small metal nubs, which look nickel plated. They are extremely smooth, and should provide a different experience to standard teflon feet.
