For this review the same applies as to my other RAM reviews; it’s being performed on an AMD 785G chipset which supports a maximum official RAM speed of DDR3-1800. That said, AMD chips benefit more from lower latencies and thus I have searched the best speeds on fixed, low latencies. CAS6, 7 and 9(stock) have been tested, with optimized main timings and all sub-timings on AUTO set in the BIOS.
First the initial overclocking results, shown in CPU-Z, a program used to show exact information on the current system.
All results were attained with the stock memory voltage of 1.65v. Raising the voltage rarely brings great overclocking potential on this system so I decided to stay at a 24/7 voltage.
The lowest stable timings with the maximum frequency I could get out of these chips. The low timings will prove useful in the "Benchmark results" section.
Loosening the timings a bit I can get the RAM to roughly put up another 100MHz.
Since we are on a AMD 785G chipset with a Phenom II X4 IMC there is the limit of about DDR3-1800 on the chipset. Anything too far over this becomes unstable and therefor untestable. Typically DDR3-1800 CL9 is taken as stock, and of course runs rock stable since the RAM specifications are DDR3-1866 with the same timings.
At CAS5 and 8 there weren’t any noticable performance increases and are therefore not listed.
