The Crucial Ballistix DDR3 PC3-12800
From the look of this new breed of modules from Crucial, it seems they have decided to continue with their 10th anniversary heatspreader design as apposed to reverting to their old clip ones. It does look a lot more professional than the old one.
The only difference in looks between these sticks and their DDR2 counterparts is the addition of the “DDR3” text underneath the usual “Ballistix” logo.
They also feel quite a bit lighter. This seems to be down to a thinning of the heatspreader and also the reduced size of the DDR3 chips themselves.
Installation was no problem due to the low profile of the heatspreaders. Nothing crazy like the insanely tall Flex or HPC memory from OCZ.
