Testing
Installation
Installation of the Orbiter is a relatively simple affair. Just take out your hard drive, flip it over and screw them together.
Some mounting issues may occur with certain setups that only have space for two hard drives in a cage, such as the Thermaltake Armor +. Some may also have issues mounting a fan on the underside of the HDD if they have a large cluster of disks.
Methodology
To test HDD coolers, we leave the disk of choice at idle without the fan and note its temperature. The drive is then stressed as much as possible to generate its maximum heat output and the temperature is noted again. We then repeat this test with the cooler attached and compare the difference in temperatures.
