For anyone that’s attempted to access the site in the past few days, I apologise for the downtime. Unfortunately, due to WordPress’ popularity, it’s not uncommon for sites like this that don’t have a budget for regularly updating the site’s backend, sometimes vulnerabilities are exploited and in this case a few of our files were corrupted, which caused the site to completely break down.
Fortunately now we’re working fine again thanks to the efforts of the WordPress Boys, who certainly know their stuff. If you happen to have a problem with your wordpress install, these guys do a great job.
But now back to reviews and news. This [...]
Good evening everyone. My name’s Jon, or Whoopty if you’ve been reading this site for a while. While I may have my roots in the hardware review game, for the past four years I’ve been doing something a bit different: I’ve been writing a book.
And today, 1st May 2013, I’m happy to announce it’s now on sale.
But Jon/Whoopty, what happens in this obviously strange and dead tribes-woman filled adventure? Well how about a plot synopsis to explain things?
“Lindsey Sterling, ex-nurse and conservationist, is travelling to the [...]
How about a nice feel good story to wrap up Friday? Invictus, one of the biggest names in the professional League of Legends world, has donated its winnings at a recent tournament to the earthquake relief effort in China: some £30,000.
Invictus faced tough opposition this week when it took on favourites World Elite in the finals of the Chinese Gigabyte StarsWar League, however the team emerged victorious and claimed the grand prize of £31,500. That prize money is now going to help those affected by the earthquake that hit South Western China last Saturday, killing over 160 people and injuring as many as 5,700.
A few months back, Acer were nice enough to send over a pre-production 11.6″ Aspire S7 Ultrabook for us to test. Today, we’re having a look at a retail 13″ model, which aside from the obvious size difference should be a much more polished product overall, running with the proper 1080p display listed in the specification as well as a retail copy of Windows 8. I’m excited to find out the differences between the two, so let’s get right into it.

While specifics are a little thin on the ground at the moment, Blizzard is apparently prepping something big for its PAX East announcement. Hopefully it’s a little more exciting than its big reveal at the PS4 debut show, where it announced that Diablo III would appear on the new console.
Even though we don’t know what it will be, we do know what it won’t be. According to the Blizzard release, it won’t be that long rumoured MMO that it’s been working on and it won’t be a sequel or an expansion. All Blizzard has said is that it’s “excited for you to get your hands on [it].”
Set to take place on the 22nd March, [...]
As unlikely as it is, it’s a question that begs answering, because Jon/Whoopty, XSR admin, me, now has a page on Facebook and a Twitter account for keeping up with my other writing outside of the review site.
If you’d give it a like/follow, that’d be awesome. I can promise mediocre content, nothing more, probably a lot less.
