Coolermaster UCP 1100w
Coolermaster UCP 1100w
The UCP 1100w has a speckled black exterior shell, with a 12CM fan at the end of the unit, which takes up around 2/3 of one panel. I wonder why a larger fan was not used, surely they could have fitted a 13cm fan or so?
Atop the fan, making sure that you don’t get your little digits caught in it, is a honeycombed grill. For a full cover grill this is the best pattern to allow the most airflow. To read a bit more about grills used on PSUs, check out our glossary entry here.
In the centre of the said grill, is a Coolermaster logo.
Flip the unit over and you’ll find a large spec sticker to give you plenty of information on the rails, and some more certification logos.
Along the rear panel of the UCP 1100w, is another honeycomb grill to allow the hot air sucked in by the fan, to exhaust out of the rear.
Blocking a small section of the grill is the power chord socket alongside the power switch and power LED. In the picture below you can see the inverted metal power connectors within the port.
Along each side panel is the “Ultimate” text in stencil form. However, interestingly each side is inverted from the other.
This isn’t a modular unit, so unfortunately there’s a bit of a mess of cables with the Ultimate. However, while they might take a bit of work to keep from tangling, there really are plenty of them, especially PCI-e cables. The full list is:
- 3 x 6pin + 8pin PCIe
- 3 x 6pin PCIe
- 9 x SATA
- 5 x Molex
- 1 x FDD (floppy drive power)
In terms of motherboard power cables:
- 1 x 24pin (will not work with old 20pin mobos)
- 2 x 4+4pin
It seems a bit odd to have 2 4+4pin power connectors. However this means that this unit is capable of powering dual CPU motherboards, so would be capable of powering a high end SkullTrail system.
Every cable features black braiding to aid in cable management by reducing snagging, and they look good to. Also, just before the actual connectors at the end of the cables the braiding is heat shrunk to keep the cabling tight.
