It’s a modular setup, providing you with just the basics pre-attached. The top 5 red connectors are all for PCIe and SATA power, whereas the black headers provide power to SATA, Molex etc. The bottom right red connector handles the 8pin CPU power cable.

One side panel features an eye catching sticker. Unfortunately it’s on the side that will be facing the back panel of your PC; also it’ll be upside down. Even with a side window you’re not going to see this, couldn’t that have been taken into consideration?

From an up close image we can see that heat paste within has been efficiently placed, not just glooped on without care. Components have also been pressed as close to the rear as possible to aid in internal cooling. This in turn helps reduce fan noise output by impeding its need to spin at higher RPMs.

135mm fan built into the chassis should provide quieter cooling than a traditional 120mm variant. Black blades, black grill, standard fair.

The underside has the usual specifications sticker showing off the 80+ gold efficiency certification (which can be verified here). This means that this PSU operates at 87% efficiency at 20% load, 90% at 50% and 87% at 100%. For a full run down of PSU efficiency and what it means, the guys at HardwareSecrets are the unofficial watchdogs of PSU reviews and they have some great informtion available for further reading.

Cables

Here’s the cables in all their wrapped up glory. They come prepackaged with cable ties holding them all in place to keep things neat. They’re also all braided with black heat shrunk ends to keep things tidy.

Antec are also kind enough to provide you with a UK power cable; not something you see everytime.

The stock cables plugged into the HCP are a single PCIe 6+2 pin, the 4+4pin CPU power and the 20+4pin mobo connector.

Conclusion

Not a massive ammount I can write here, this is just an unboxing. It’s a pretty fully featured PSU in terms of cabling, the construction is solid and its 80+ gold certification is validated by Ecos.

I will get an oscilloscope soon I promise.
