Antec CP-850w
Conclusion
The performance of the CP-850 is really first rate with some top notch rail voltages that rarely even exceed the 1% limit let alone get anywhere near to failing. The power consumption is a little higher than it could be but looking at the bigger picture it’s pretty insignificant. The unit is clearly right up there with a Signature unit which has been highly praised and this is no mean feat.
One thing that could prove to be a problem is the new form factor though. It will require one of only three cases (modding aside) to install it in which really narrows down the choice. And, this means that although the unit only costs about £100, an Antec case to mount it in will cost at least another £100 – suddenly it doesn’t seem like such great value for money.
That said, the unit is pretty damn awesome – it certainly looks the part in its matte black casing. Add to that some brilliant rail voltages, solid PF ratings and a little bit of Antec magic and you have a winner for sure.
