Steelseries SRW-S1 Steering Wheel

Physical Features

At first look it looks rather crazy with loads of buttons, settings and other gizmo’s but once you have sat down and read and handled the steering wheel, everything makes more sense.

I found myself using this area a lot to try and get the settings correct for my driving style which was quite easily done on the fly, while driving.

Turning wheel around we see the four paddles used to gear changes, accelerating and braking. We also see four mounting holes which I would guess are for mounting the wheel to a frame with seat ect.

Taking a closer look at the paddles, they have grooves on to ensure you have good contact with them although the texture of the finish helps mostly for that. Also unlike your keyboard the paddles are not simply on or off, they will smoothly up the throttle or brakes as you do. I also noticed that unlike an actual car you have to have the paddles quite far pulled in before the actual engine revs in the game.

Although it may not be something you consider, the USB connector is well made and was firmly held in the USB port of my Corsair case, also they provide a Velcro cable tie to tidy up the fairly long cable.
