Keysonic ACK-126 RF

The Keysonic ACK-126 RF

The Keysonic ACK-126 is a bit odd to look at. The first thing you notice is how thin it is, it’s pretty much just the keys, no normal plastic base here. Another obvious deviation from the normal keyboard layout is the chunky battery pack on the left of the board. This is a large rubbery casing where the batteries are held. I imagine, this is the most “waterproof” part of the ACK as it houses the power for the board; let’s hope it can handle our testing.

The layout is pretty much identical to that of a standard keyboard with one minor change of the left hand side, the backslash key has been moved next to the spacebar as apposed to next to the Z key.

All of the keys have a thick white outline which makes them very prominent against the dark blue of the silicone.

The right hand side of the Keysonic ACK differs a little from the standard layout, by moving the “Insert, Home, PageUp” buttons above the number pad. This means however, that the Scroll Lock has been sacrificed to save space, as have the “lock LEDs”. This makes it impossible for the user to tell if Caps Lock or Num Lock are on which could cause some annoyance.

The back of the Keysonic ACK looks pretty funky as you can see all the innards of the board through it’s translucent skin.

Down by the bar coded sticker in the bottom right hand corner is the “connect” button which is one half of the synching process with the USB dongle. Unfortunately as you can see, the button isn’t quite where the “connect” circle is.
