Speedblack Gaming Platform
Speedblack
While I’m sure you’d all love to see me essentially replicate the installation instructions, to save time for all involved here is the finished article. My first impression though was, “oh, they sent me the red one.” It’s ok looking I suppose, but I really would have said the black or yellow versions were far more attractive; going on pictures at least.
NB. This product managed to defeat the newly constructed photography area, so apologies for the bordering panels in one of the pictures.
I did however have a couple of problems with the setup. Even using the included spanner to tighten everything to it’s tightest, there was a slight lean to the footrest.
This lean shouldn’t affect gameplay much, but it is a little annoying. It seems to be due to the slightly bodged way that the footrest meets the main section of the Speedblack; a rubber tipped screw balancing on a ridge.
Interestingly, this screw which holds the footrest in place, has a rubber tip to prevent damage to the paintwork on the main section; where as the screw at the top, that controls the height of the stand does not, and leaves nasty scratches on the paint.
I’m a little confused why this central piece doesn’t just have a screw hole? It’s shape also doesn’t neatly slot into the main tubing section . The screw holds it in place by applying pressure along the ridge, as the paint chip picture shows. The problem with this, is if you attempt to twist the top section, while it’s elevated, it simply shifts to the left and right, gradually lowering it down, off angle, and scratching more paint.
One thing that does work well however, is the top tray which can slide backwards and forwards by loosening the screws under the top section.
