Sitecom USB Hub

Testing

Methodology

Testing USB hubs isn’t particularly easy as they simply connect a USB device to the computer and you can’t exactly test how easy it is to connect the USB cable up now can you?

Therefore, I have decided to connect up a USB memory stick and see if the hub affects transfer speeds by running the long benchmark on HDTach to test read/write speeds, burst speeds and random access times.

The test with be run with the stick connected straight to the motherboard USB ports and through the hub so as to compare the results.

As you can see, the results are completely identical and thus it doesn’t make any noticeable difference to the transfer speeds (not that we were expecting any).

Cost

The hub is pretty expensive for what is essentially quite a basic product, coming in at £15-£18 on various websites. This does seem a little high but the hub is of the highest quality.
