Installation
Installation of the quick port is very simple. Just plug in the power cable, the eSata (or USB) cable and turn on your PC. I had no problems with my installations of Windows XP, however in my RTM version of Windows 7, I did have to run Disk Scanner in the administrative tools before it was recognised.
Methodology
To test an interface like this, there isn’t a lot involved. The only way to do so is to comment on the ease of installation, and then run a couple of HDD performance tests using both directly connected SATA for the drive, and the eSATA connection when in the drive dock.
For the latter part of the testing, I ran HDTach (quick) and took screenshots of the results, as well as transferring 5.55GB made up of 11,000 files to the drive while in both instances, and measuring the transfer time using a stop watch.
