Scythe Kama Panel

Time to look inside. The panel is really very small; I must say the pictures do make it seem somewhat bigger and so my first reaction was how there are so many functions and ports on this tiny little object? To answer that, they too are very small!

In the bottom left corner are two fan controllers which can connect up to the system fans to make it easier for the user to control their speeds at the turn of a switch. The dials are very simplistic, just clear circles of plastic that can be turned from LO to HI.

Above these are two ports for Micro SD and mini SD/MS Duo cards. The fact that these removable flash memory cards can be connected up to a computer by just plugging them in the front is very useful, especially for digital camera users – so basically all of us – as data can quickly be transferred without having to connect the whole camera or get a separate external drive.

Power and SATA connections are available too in order to allow external drives or other such devices to be powered up easily.

For those of us wishing to transfer larger amounts of data, the CF/MD slot is perfect; basically any storage device you can think of can be plugged into this panel – brilliant.

Finally, there are a few ports on the right hand side:

  • Mic Out
  • Audio In
  • USB 2.0

There is no room for any styling effects or other features on the front as it simply crammed full off ports and connectors. Therefore, the 3.5” panel is plain black with little white labels for all the different things.

The underside is again just black with a number of screws to secure the circuit boards – no point for style here as you only see the front when it’s installed.

Looking from a bird’s eye view, all the circuit boards are visible. To aid with hooking up all the cables more labels are provided so you don’t plug it all in the wrong places as many of the connections are extremely similar.
