Proporta Universal Emergency Charger Travel Kit

Testing

Methodology

Well, there’s not a lot we can do to test this item, other than test how effectively it does what it says it does: charge stuff. I don’t possess an iPod, or a PSP, so I’ll be using the Proporta Universal charger to recharge my Sony Ericsson K850i, and a Nokia N81, and I’ll see how many charges we can get out of it before it runs out.

Setup

To setup charging a phone, you have to run through several steps, as there’s some different connectors that must be hooked up before you can plug your phone in. First it’s the zip cord USB to 3mm convterer:

Then you plug in your specific phone charger, in my case, the Sony Ericcson one:

And finally it’s the Phone itself, in this case the K850i.

While it’s charging you can test how much charge the Proporta has left by pressing the “check” button. Using the simple scale on the side, you can see how much charge is left in, the charger. I’ve said “charge” far too many times in this review.

Actual Charging Results

When it came down to actually charing the individual mobiles, one full charge from 5% battery left, took half a circle of power, according to the “check button.” On the 2nd charge, the check button was displaying a full clear circle – IE. empty, but I was able to get the majority of a 3rd charge before the Proporta finally ran out of juice.

Cost

The Proporta Universal Charger will set you back £35 which seems like quite a lot of money, for what is essentially a battery pack but some people could find it a life saver.
