MSI P6N-Diamond
Overclocking
With my previous 975x based board (Asus P5W-DH Deluxe) I hit the usual wall of about 380mhz on the FSP which gave my E6600 a total speed of 3.42ghz at 1.45v. Not too shabby. However, with my new 680i board I was hoping for more, how much more I wasn’t sure, but it was definitely more.
It took me a while to get used to the new BIOS layout I must admit, and I am still usually a little confused by the FSB readings of 1200-2000 and above as apposed to the usual 300-500 that is seen on most BIOS OC screens. Still, I set the CPU multi down to 6x and began raising the FSB in increments of 50. I finally hit a wall at 1800 (450) and unfortunately raising the northbridge voltage didn’t help. A pretty respectable overclock and will see most people pushing their processors to the max.
