Asus P7P55D Deluxe
Asus P7P55D Continued
Behind the memory DIMMs are the overclocking switches that allow for over voltages to become available in the BIOS to help push your rig as far as possible. Essentially these are only for the hardcore enthusiast but they are a little more user friendly in their design than previous overclocking features.
A total of three switches can provide extra power to the memory, integrated memory controller and the CPU.
One feature that is pretty neat is the “Com port” – effectively a little red button. Its purpose is to allow the system to boot through running a number of algorithms in order to ensure the memory is stable enough to boot the rig at the set values. This is certainly intriguing and we can’t wait to explore a little further here.
The CPU socket is a little different held in place bythree screws. The back of the motherboard has more heatsinks too for the 16+3 phase VRM circuit held in place by spring loaded screws.
Looking at the I/O ports is quite standard as boards of this calibre go. The expected PS/2 ports for both mouse and keyboard sit at the top with optical and Coaxial digital sound outputs lower down. A total of eight USB ports are included not to mention a clear CMOS button, dual Gigabyte LAN and 1394 ports.
So, that’s about all we can show you for now but from what we’ve seen, the P55 platform looks promising. The aesthetics are second to none and with a number of new features, this could be a great board. This determining factor as with all hardware will be the price though and so we keenly wait to see what ASUS values its boards at. Look out for a full review of the P7P55D Deluxe coming up very soon!
