When considering purchasing a 4gb memory kit it must be taken into account what O/S you are running. Anything that isn’t 64 bit is only going to be able to utilise 3gb and it seems a waste of 1/4 of that kit you just spent your cash on. This rules out Vista 32, XP32 and anything before it leaving only Vista 64 and XP 64 standing tall. Another issue is that if you are running either of these 64 bit operating systems, you need a 64bit processor which would be any of the AMD 64 range of CPUs, any of Intel’s C2Ds or later releases.
