Crucial Ballistix 12800 DDR3 2GB

Conclusion

DDR3 is still in it’s infancy. Just as DDR2 was insanely expensive when it was a young technology; so we can expect to pay top dollar for these new kits for a while to come. However, if you look past the cost, with the Ballistix 12800 from Crucial, you have a kit that does what it says on the tin – hits 1600mhz – but unfortunately doesn’t go much further. The modules do look good, and the performance isn’t bad, but I’m not sure if many people will be able to look past the price tag to find that out for themselves; at least not for a while at least.

Pros Cons
Performs well Not much overclocking beyond rated speed
Looks good Very expensive
Overclocks to rated speed and beyond
