Sapphire HD 6850 1GB

Sapphire HD 6850 1GB

The 6850 is a pretty standard looking card; in that it doesn’t differ much from previous generations apart from an updated shroud.

There’s a centralised fan that sits over an internal aluminium heatsink, fed by copper heatpipes.

The plastic shroud features some silver strips for extra cool-ness, and the name of the card in the centre on a grey/white gradiant.

At the front end you have your air intake and initial hints of the interneal heatsink. Air is drawn in over the MOSFET before being funnelled over the main body of the HSF to cool the GPU. This is also where you’ll find the single 6pin PCIe power connector.

While the 6 series doesn’t bring many big changes over previous generations, one of the more obvious ones is the addition of more connectors. Each card now comes equipped with the traditional twin DVI, as well as HDMI and Display Port options.

No backing plate on this stock cooler as it’s not too heavy. This keeps it low profile and less likely to cause clearance issues in a tight case.
