Sunbeamtech Core Contact Freezer
The Core Contact Freezer
At a first glance the Freezer is quite a nice shape and size for a CPU cooler. The indentations in the sides look quite cool and the way that the cooler is designed to angle air down towards the motherboard is also a clearly visible feature.
The heatpipes which all protrude from the top of the cooler are copper. The 4 heatpipes are U-shaped, and similar to other coolers using the same technology, directly touch the CPU. At the base of the cooler it is possible to see that the copper though not obviously polished or particularly smoothed out, appears to be quite flat. Between the heatpipes is an aluminium block, which provides a platform for the heatpipes and also acts as the base for the installation and mounting kits.
The fins on the cooler are thin but are difficult to bend which is nice to see. With some cooler it’s quite simple to damage them just by putting a little too much pressure on the flimsy aluminium.. The fins curve downwards opposite the fan mounting side, to direct air onto the motherboard. They also have little notches in them where the fan clips should be installed.
The fan is boasted by Sunbeamtech as being ultra-silent and comes with a PCI fan speed controller. The fan itself is quite sturdy and has 7 blades to it. The power cable is the old style 3-pin cable so no PWM control here. However, the cable is a nicely coated one with a silvery appearance.
