AMA Serac 770
The Serac 770
Starting with one of the most important parts of the kits – the pump – it integrates the water-tank into one unit. This not only saves space within the case it means that less tubing is needed to link up tanks and it also means that unlike most other offerings this kit is suitable for the smaller chassis, which may otherwise not have been able to fit the unit inside. The pump itself is a clear grey plastic allowing you to see the water level; there is also a light inside the tank, which makes the whole thing glow neon blue in the dark. Atop the unit there is a metal cap, which is probably there mainly for show; but perhaps passively cools the liquid slightly. On the side of the unit are 3 holes: one is for filling the unit with coolant using the supplied funnel and the other two are for the in/out pipes.
The CPU water-block is quite heavy and bears the word AMA on the top in between the two pipe connectors. The top has an obvious machine finish to it but the rest of the block appears to be very flat, shiny and smooth. The base of the block comes covered with the usual sticker, which protects the contact core from damage. Even the smallest of scratches can reduce the touching surface area between the block and CPU, and would therefore reduce the cooling effectiveness of the kit.
The radiator is an externally mountable unit that can be attached to virtually any tower style case through the use of the mounting kit. The radiator has a built in PWM fan that produces a mere 19db at normal operation, it also has a built in blue LED that lights up the unit when powered on. Atop this fan there is a large and impressive looking grill, in the centre of which there is a large W shape which looks quite imposing.
The tubing for this kit is pretty thin; this means that there will be more pressure to get more water through this tubing in comparison to 1/2; 3/4 inch tubing that is seen on more hardcore kits. The tubing is a fairly dark shade of blue, which would, look pretty cool running around in any case. You do though get a lot of this tubing so those with larger cases shouldn’t have any problems The mounting bracket for the radiator is a single piece fitting that is attached to the back of your case where you would then clip the radiator during installation.
