Revoltec Zirconium

Testing

The case was stood on as per our standing test for cases. The case scored a 2 meaning that it was showing the signs of strain when my boot was on it. It’ll be perfect for a LANer as it has the strength, and probably slightly more important is that it’s light. Compared to high-end cases like the P182B, its refreshing to be able to carry it around with out huffing and puffing.

To turn the case on, you have to use the huge – and very tactile – button at the top of the case which lights up blue when pressed. The lower light bar also illuminates the same colour too. The HDD light is incredibly bright and could be annoying if you are trying to sleep in the same room as the case.

The included 120mm fan is nothing to write home about, but it moves air and does it quietly too (23.94 dBA) which is good news for quiet PC lovers.

My main problem with this case is the optical drive covers. They have a huge button which should enable compatibility with every optical drive out there, but there is no way of seeing the read light. Once you’ve ejected the disc tray, you can’t then press the eject button again, meaning that you have to push the drive tray to make it close again. While this is fine every now and again, it’s not going to do your DVD/CD drive any favours in the long run. Also, when the tray is ejected, the door doesn’t open immediately as it requires a fairly large amount of force to flip down. If you have a ‘weak’ optical drive then the door simply won’t open.
