NOX Coolbay HX

Testing

Methodology

Testing cases is another of those odd ones, as the main test of any case, is what features it has, and whether its cooling options are quiet. The features are detailed in the look at the case itself, but individual ones will be looked into during the testing to highlight any problems or particularly innovations we liked.

We also have a rather unique test termed the “strength” test. This involves yours truly standing on said case, and checking how it reacts in terms of flexing. This test is detailed more here

However, before anything happens, we need to install our rig into the case.

Installation

Processor
Intel C2D E5550 Dual Core 2.33GHz
Motherboard Gigabyte S-Series GA-73PVM-S2H
Graphics Card XFX 8600GT
Memory Corsair XMS2 PC6400 (2x 1GB)
Hard Drive
Hitachi HDT7250 (250GB)
Hard Drive OS Windows XP Pro 32bit

Firstly, you need to remove one of the
front drive bay panels; this is done by removing the whole front panel and then popping a bay out – very easy. The ODD then slots in and is secured by four screws.

To install the HDD, simply remove the HDD bracket by undoing the eight thumbscrews (four on each side). The hard drive disk then just slots in and is secured by more screws and the whole bracket can be put back in.

The rest is all very straightforward – basically screw everything in and connect it all up.

Once the case was powered up, the power button goes blue and the blue LED side fan emits a turquoise-blue glow.
