GMC X-7
Interior of the GMC X-7 ‘X-Station’
After removing the side panel you can see that the left-side panel has an 80mm fan installed over the CPU area and also a perforated section which would be above the PCI-E sockets. Moreover, it’s worth noting that the side-panels are painted black on both sides, unlike the chassis which is the boring grey we’re used to with older cases.
The actual chassis layout should be very familiar as it’s completely standard. There are no features such as drive bay rails or holes in the motherboard plate. Instead, everything is kept simplistic and very basic.
At the front of the chassis there is a 120mm fan installed. Also, you can see that 6 hard drives can be installed internally – with screws of course, no fancy bits in this case.
The rear of the chassis offers another 120mm fan. Both these 120mm fans look very standard; let’s hope they’re quiet at least.
The 5.25” drive bay cage requires the drives to be screwed into position – like the hard drive bays. Although this method is slightly outdated, I actually think its less hassle than some of the so-called ‘tool-less’ alternatives available.
