Facebook gore and porn posts getting out of hand

Facebook’s takeover by porn and gore postings continues. As the admins struggle to cope with the influx, users are taking a break from the social network in serious numbers.

Over the past few days, Facebook has been inundated with posts of gore, animal abuse and pornography and many a user has been confused about how it happened. While it wouldn’t be beyond some people to post this for the fun of it, the real culprit in this instance is a linkspam virus that entices users to click the link as part of its posting, usually with a reference to Kim Kardashian. Once the virus grabs a hold, it begins posting gore and pornographic images to a users timeline, as well as spamming its Kardashian link to others.

Twitter has certainly seen a rise in usage over the past couple of days as people turn to their secondary social network to vent their frustration at the near inability to use Facebook without encountering the images.

Some pointed their fingers at Anonymous, but they have their own problems right now with their favourite imageboard being DDOSd and the Occupy Wall Street movement get ousted from Zucatti park. Things are certainly a little cleaner now.

Facebook are apparently scrambling to fix the issue, but certain more prudish places like the Christian post have left scathing remarks aimed at the social network.
