Battlestar Galactica Online has 5 Million Players

While they arn’t raking in over $100 million a month from subscriptions like Blizzard do with WoW, the developers of Battlestar Galactica are likely to be pretty pleased with themselves after they announced that their free to play browser MMO of the TV series Battlestar Galactica has reached an impressive 5 million strong player base.

They have also promised some new content to celebrate this milestone.

“We listen very closely to what the players ask for and are happy to announce that more features and items, including a number of new ships, are on the way,” said Bigpoint producer Sarah Levantine.

A new set of Fleet Recon ships will be landing sometime in the next month with a new ability. Known as the “Jump To Target”  skill, this will allow players to immediately get into a battle, acting only as a support or scout role though.

Released as a beta back in February of this year, this is one MMO that has grown exponentially in size. It originally reached 2 million users in less than 3 months from release.
