IE 9 was Downloaded 2.3 Million Times
Microsoft’s latest iteration of their Internet Explorer browser, version 9.0 has been officially downloaded a massive 2.3 million times in just the first 24 hours since release. This will be a nice boost to Microsoft’s concience as they were hoping to regain some market share from main rivals Apple, Google, Mozilla and Opera; though the middle two have cetainly “stolen” the most.
While Google also has updates to their chrome browser coming this year, the big browser release this year is likely to come from Mozilla with the unveiling of their Firefox 4.0 which they have recently made available via their first release candidate version. Microsoft will be hoping to capture as much of the Firefox market before this happens as it’s expected to do quite well in the browser game.
Larger download reveals are expected to come in the next few weeks as Microsoft gets more stats in – bare in mind that the 2.3 million were only within the first 24 hours – so after a week there will be an update, fortnight etc.
