Touch Screen Wii (U) Accessory Coming

Nintendo has filed a new patent for an interesting accessory. It looks to attach to the top of a Wiimote, giving it minor touch screen control in the form of several LEDs. Upon a player touching these, they light up, with a mirror directing the action to the sensor bar. The interesting part though, is this patent is for the Wii U.

Nintendo has released some information in the past that hinted of the Wii U’s ability to communicate with Wii hardware, but there wasn’t much said about it. People certainly don’t want to be forced into buying those giant controllers with a built in screen that have been touted so far. Those things look expensive.
