Toshiba Announces Cut Price Tablet
Toshiba is gunning for Apple’s iPad, choosing to go with price competitiveness over coolness. The new “Thrive” iPad competitor will be priced at £262 and will come with WiFi as default. Toshiba has said that it is marketing the device at home tablet users.
Sony and Samsung have also recently entered the tablet market, with it being the latest fad after netbooks. Competitiveness in the industry will now increase until the next fad comes along. While these other manufacturers havn’t done much to dent Apple’s success, Toshiba is hoping to be somewhat of an “ipad killer”.
“There is a market out there of folks who want to buy non-Apple products,” said Jeff Barney of Toshiba America.
