Another open world zombie game is set to be released on PC as well as Xbox Live Arcade. While this does mark the upteenth undead shooter game that we’ve seen in recent months, it’s interesting to see the PC getting some more love from developers.
Originally slated as an Xbox Live Arcade exclusive, State of Decay is an over the shoulder shooter, in a world with day night cycless and big, open environments. The zombies are fast paced, meaning the characters need to be too. The trailer below shows them summersaulting, sprinting and jumping all over to avoid the undead. There’s also a host of brutal executions, showing that this game doesn’t skimp on the gore. It’s not quite Left 4 Dead in its endless mowing down of the infected, but it doesn’t look far off.
This isn’t Day Z either, where items and vehicles are incredibly scarce. In the trailer we see the player controlling two different vehicles while running down swathes of the undead.
A spokesperson for developer Undead Labs said: “[In State of Decay] You choose where to make your stand, designing and fortifying your home base, performing daring raids for food and ammunition, and rescuing other playable survivors with unique talents. The open, sandbox world develops in real-time, shaped by your actions, dynamically generating content based on your choices and the ever-increasing zombie threat.”
