GameCircle has been announced by Amazon, giving the Kindle Fire its own competitor in the gaming arena.
Designed to compete directly with Microsoft’s Xbox Live and Apple’s GameCenter, GameCircle comes equipped with achievements, trophies, leaderboards and other social gaming aspects, designed to offer developers the same sort of options they would have if developing for any of the other platforms. Similar to Steam as well, Amazon’s GameCenter offers cloud saves functions across multiple devices, allowing people to play a game on their laptop, then take that same game on the go using their smartphone, picking up where they left off.
Because of these saves being remote as well, even uninstalling a game won’t delete your remote saves, meaning once you reinstall, you can start where you last finished.
Developers are already getting onboard, including Imagi Studios. Co-Founder Keith Shepherd said,
“We are thrilled to be part of Amazon’s GameCircle with Temple Run. The new service is a great way to keep our fans engaged by offering them more opportunities to play the game, and an intuitive platform to connect with new players.”
