Truly wireless earbuds. Apple’s AirPods are the best known example, but there are plenty of clever boffins in labs turning out these super portable headphones. The properly wireless design makes them feel magical, but it also brings some challenges. Today, we’ll be testing the Soundbeats Q29 to see how these £40 wireless earbuds measure up.Specifications and FeaturesBluetooth 4.1 (HFP, HSP, A2DP, AVRCP) 45mAh polymer lithium battery 5.3 grams each Comes with charging case, USB cable, 3 pairs of eartips, user manualDesign

“Do not use in a public place” says the user manual for the Avegant Glyph, a Geordi La Forge style* visor that beams video directly onto your eyeballs. I presume the warning is because you might get robbed while staring distractedly into a 65-inch virtual screen hanging in space, but it also might be because the Glyph might destroy whatever shreds of ‘cred’ you’ve amassed thus far in your nerdly life. Regardless, this face-mounted movie theatre is well worth trying — just make sure you do it in the privacy of your own home. Here’s our full review.Design
At first glance, the Glyph looks more like an pair of Beats [...]
Aukey is one of the best known makers of mobile accessories, with a massive range of chargers, battery packs, speakers and so on. As the name suggests, this Qualcomm charging standard allows you to recharge your phone in a fraction of the time of standard charging practices, largely through allowing higher voltage charging. Quick Charge 4.0 models will be able to go from 0% to 50% capacity in just fifteen minutes of charging; earlier versions of the [...]
The MYNT is a smart tracker, a tiny dongle that can be attached to useful items like your keys or wallet so you can track its location on your phone. The iClever BoostCube is pretty well named. It’s a vaguely cuboid mains adapter that will charge your smartphone or tablet with speed. We’ve been sent a sample from iClever, so let’s put it to the test!Design
The BoostCube has two 2.4A USB ports on one side, and a mains plug on the other side. The ports provide 48W in total. 2.4A is sufficient to charge almost all smartphones and tablets at full speed, although experts may note that fast charging technologies such as Qualcomm’s Quick Charge or OnePlus’ DashCharge can offer better performance.
For our review unit, this is a UK plug; US and EU versions also exist. (And the US [...]
