For anyone that’s attempted to access the site in the past few days, I apologise for the downtime. Unfortunately, due to WordPress’ popularity, it’s not uncommon for sites like this that don’t have a budget for regularly updating the site’s backend, sometimes vulnerabilities are exploited and in this case a few of our files were corrupted, which caused the site to completely break down.
Fortunately now we’re working fine again thanks to the efforts of the WordPress Boys, who certainly know their stuff. If you happen to have a problem with your wordpress install, these guys do a great job.
But now back to reviews and news. This [...]
As unlikely as it is, it’s a question that begs answering, because Jon/Whoopty, XSR admin, me, now has a page on Facebook and a Twitter account for keeping up with my other writing outside of the review site.
If you’d give it a like/follow, that’d be awesome. I can promise mediocre content, nothing more, probably a lot less.

In related news, I wrote a book. Information on its impending release will [...]
Well perhaps you don’t celebrate it, maybe for some reason XSR is one of those sites you visit every day or maybe you’re just looking around and ended up here. Either way, have a happy Christmas from everyone here at XSReviews.
2012 hasn’t been the strongest year for the site, but we’re still here ticking over, doing news, doing reviews and the team is working hard behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly. Thank you for visiting, whatever brought you here. Thanks for putting up with the adverts and the infrequent content. We really appreciate you coming here and hope you’ll continue to do so in the future.
Instead of writing my usual reviews, I’m going to take a break and give my new Bulldozer chip a run.
The system I’m going to be using is:
AMD FX-8120 with a Cooler Master Hyper 412S and a Little Devil PC-V2 phase unit.
ASUS Reference 5870
Crucial C300 128GB
Cooler Master Silent Pro 850W
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Antec SOLO II
A few may know of a couple of flaws this board has. First off is the Vdroop. Vdroop is when you apply load to your CPU and the voltage being sent to the CPU drops. The UD7 has this badly and for that reason some of the [...]
Happy birthday to XSReviews, as today we celebrate the 6th anniversary of its creation. I just want to take this opportunity to thank everybody that’s read and contributed to our content over this time. Our reviews might not be the most in-depth out there, but we pride ourselves on always offering honest opinions. If we make mistakes, we do our best to correct them.
I hope to continue that ethos well into the future and I hope you’ll be there with us.
Thanks again, here’s to the future and an excellent 2012.
PS. Look out for an anniversary competition here very soon.
Not sure if it was supposed to get here before Christmas – probably, though I haven’t seen any other sites mention them – but it’s a little “holiday” present from Steelseries. Not only do a I get a little thank you note that I’ll quote from below, but an old school NES cartridge with some custom labelling on it. Unfortunately, because I was a Mega Drive (Genesis) gamer in my youth, I don’t own a NES. I need to find someone who does though, as if this works and continues to tell me how cool I am, that’d be epic.
We wanted to send a little token of nerd-appreciation to you for [...]
