After the release of the GTX 1080 TI, it seemed like the war between the Graphics Card People and the Monitor People was over. Finally, after years of trying, General Nvidia had produced a single graphics card capable of sixty frames a second at that mighty 4K resolution. But the Monitor People didn’t take that defeat lying down… and now, Acer’s Hellforges have produced a new secret weapon: a 4K monitor that runs at 144 Hz. In whispers, folks call it the Predator X27; they say that no single graphics card can best it.
The X27 hasn’t yet arrived at the front lines, but scattered sightings and hearsay paint a fearsome picture. Dispatches insist it [...]
NZXT have just unveiled their latest special edition case, and it’s an absolute beauty. The S340 Elite Hyper Beast features the artwork of Brock Hofer, a Nova Scotian who is responsible for some of the coolest weapon skins in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (shown below).
We were big fans of the original S340 Elite when we reviewed it, thanks to its excellent thermals and excellent cable management, but this new design makes it even cooler. The Hyper Beast limited edition even includes a special gradient-coloured cable management bar.
Only 1337 units will be made, each individually numbered with a metal identifier. The S340 Elite Hyper [...]
BenQ Zowie have announced their latest monitor today, and it’s a blinder. The XL2540 comes with a monstrous 240Hz refresh rate, which is considerably higher than other gaming monitors on the market (which tend to be 60, 120 or 144Hz). In order to make hitting that kind of frame rate achievable, the resolution is a modest 1080p — a reasonable choice for the 24.5-inch TN panel.
The XL2540 also incorporates some of the eSports technologies we first saw on the XL2735, like an adjustable shield that helps to block out distracting sights around the periphery of your monitor. It’s an interesting idea that could be ideal for a LAN environment, and you [...]
NZXT announced an upgrade to its mid-size, mid-range S340 case today: the S340 Elite. The new version sports a massive 4mm-thick tempered glass side panel, considerations for VR gaming and a larger number of SSD trays. NZXT also unveiled a new internal USB hub. Let’s take a closer look at the announcements.Design and upgrades
The most obvious change from the vanilla S340 is the side window. Following industry trends, the Elite’s entire left side has been replaced by a 4mm-thick sheet of tempered glass, held on by four wide screws. That makes it much easier to peer inside and see what’s going on, but also brings some durability concerns — you [...]

Speedlink impressed us with their Kudos Z-9 mouse, and now the German company is following it up with another peripheral: a mechanical keyboard. It’s called the ULTOR (presumably named after the antagonists in Red Faction), and it looks pretty sweet!
